Our Story
Our story begins in the North East of England where company founder, Jonathan Aspinall, studied towards a design degree at Northumbria University. He has a passion for looking at everyday items with a fresh pair of eyes and giving them a unique, often humorous, twist. Creativity is what makes him tick! In late 2011, what started out as the one-off design of a pop out dove greeting card for his brother to take along to a Christmas fair, soon turned into a creative flurry (fuelled by his good friend, coffee!).
The years have passed and here we are today, with a range of bright and beautiful products. Our pop out greeting cards are a wonderful combination of a card and a keepsake gift all rolled into one. Each comes with a flat-packed decorative keepsake for the recipient to pop out, as well as a miniature greeting card, inside which the sender can put good old pen to paper.
They are crafted using a 100% recyclable PEFC™ certified, eco-friendly material and are lovingly made in the United Kingdom. The range is complemented by an ever-increasing array of design-led gifts including notebooks, bookmarks and pin badges.
Having spent 5 years playing the role of Santa's little helper at trade shows and generally being an honorary member of the team, Jonathan's wife, Louisa, officially began working for the company and became a fully-fledged member of Pop Out HQ in the summer of 2019. Her bean counting skills and love of all things admin make her a great addition to the now small family business.
We are delighted to supply to brands including Paperchase, Fenwick, Kew Gardens, the National Trust, the British Museum, the National Portrait Gallery as well many wonderful independent retailers and are a proud Not On The High Street partner.
Something that is close to our hearts is the Just A Card campaign. Sarah Hamilton and the team are making great strides in championing independent retailers, artists, designers and makers and have created a voice to shine a light on just how brilliant they really are. The purchase of ‘just a card’ from your local gift shop could make a real difference because, that one small purchase, means the world to a business that is working hard to keep going. These independent shops, as well as the wonderful designers and makers that they stock, are the heart of our local communities. To find out more, visit: www.justacard.org
